LONDON TRAINEE PROGRAMME

By choosing the Morrison & Foerster trainee programme in London, you are choosing an opportunity to work on cutting-edge deals for international, UK and China corporates, global financial institutions, Fortune 100 companies, and technology and life sciences companies. We are dedicated to providing highly responsive client service, innovative and practical advice, and meticulous execution.

Our ability to provide our clients with the legendary service that has become synonymous with the name Morrison & Foerster depends on the talents and contributions of our exceptional lawyers. As a trainee, you will receive work assignments suitable for developing your skills, and the support and training to excel in your work. Our philosophy is to give trainees as much responsibility as they can manage. You will work directly with associates and partners, either alone or as part of a team with other associates and paralegals. The work you undertake will vary by practice area, but, in all cases, you will have the opportunity to meet clients, draft agreements and client memoranda and participate in drafting sessions and negotiations. You will play an active part in each matter to which you are assigned.

The training contract in London comprises four six-month seats, rotating between departments. All trainees will take seats in Corporate and Technology Transactions, plus a contentious seat in either litigation or employment law—with a fourth seat in Tax, Capital Markets or Financial Transactions or a return visit to one of the earlier seats. We endeavor to accommodate your interest in specific practice areas, so if you are particularly enthused about a specific practice area, let us know.

While we believe that direct participation and hands-on training provide the most rewarding opportunity, your practical experience will be supported by a comprehensive training programme throughout your training contract. In addition, each trainee is assigned a mentor as an extra means of support during the two years.
