LATERAL ASSOCIATES

Change is good. Change for the better, even better. Lateral associates who join Morrison & Foerster find their new home a change for the better. Each lateral associate we meet is interested in making a change, though the reasons for doing so are as varied as the candidates. Interestingly, we find that the reasons for their interest in MoFo tend to be very similar—when they chose to practice law, they expected something more; they expected to be challenged by interesting, varied work; and they expected to become part of a team and take on significant responsibility. They also wanted work to be fun....

Morrison & Foerster is a global firm with over 1000 lawyers throughout our 17 offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia. We are dedicated to providing our clients, which include some of the largest financial institutions, Fortune 100 companies, and technology and life sciences companies, with legendary service. Our dedication to providing innovative solutions requires expertise and imagination. Our work is complex; our standards are high; and our schedules are, in truth, invariably demanding. In this regard, we're just like many other great firms.

So, what sets us apart? It's the MoFo mojo. It is our people: who are passionate about what they do; who don't think of our work as just work; who view maintaining a welcoming and diverse environment as central to who we are and what we will always be; who find the energy and personalities of our colleagues refreshing, invigorating and reason enough to come to work; and who consider respect for the views of all of our colleagues integral to our exemplary culture. If this sounds like you, then in short order you will find that you will be just as much a part of our firm as those of our colleagues who have spent their entire careers at MoFo.

We recruit judicial clerks and encourage our summer associates to consider a clerkship prior to returning to MoFo. Our lawyers have clerked for the U.S. Supreme Court, all circuits of the U.S. appellate courts, U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Tax Court and for state supreme and appellate courts. Clerking sharpens your analytical skills and serves as excellent preparation for the challenges that will assuredly follow.
